Fashion industry after COVID-19

During this quarantine period, the two big encyclopedias of fashion, Tagwalk and Vogue, have shown us some of the changes that the fashion world will have in the future.

Tagwalk has done a survey among consumers to try to detect the new directions that fashion world will take since the Covid crisis hits the industry.

It’s curious to discover that trends might be affected and reinvented.

Some of the trends that are rising thanks to the quarantine period are pajama, party style, face masks, cocoon and sweatpants. Behind these trends we find some changes that society is facing right now.

Staying at home has potentially raised shopping for comfortable clothes, but at the same time we are still dreaming. We are all thinking about the next outfits we will style, we dream of parties and escapes which include colorful clothes and a desire for spring and summer that already feels like stolen from us.

At the same time, the understanding of fashion times and models is changing.

Influencers have found themselves locked down and reality took the place of glamour. Staying at home has been a challenge to all those who wanted to keep creating fashion content, and has made us all reflect upon fashion icons, models, bodies and the reality of human nature.

For this reason, fashion should start to be a more inclusive place, where everyone can enjoy and feel comfortable, no matter what, and all fashion brands should start working in that direction.

To finish with this resume for how the fashion industry might be affected by the corona crisis, the reality is showing a big inclination to sustainability values and the importance of respecting the planet.

The way fashion produces, and the way we all consume is affecting Earth and our lives.

Covid-19 has had a big impact on our mind about how fragile humans can be, and how much we need to take care of the planet and ourselves.

Hopefully, after this crisis, fashion industry will take decisions based on reality, respect and inclusivity.
