Creativity dose with... Wilo & Grove

Wilo & Grove is the expertise and the arty feeling of Fanny and Olivia, pioneer of the movement of new gallery owners. Their goal: to revolutionize the gallery, to desecrate the world of art, to bring out new talents and to add to our interiors, a unique and exclusive piece of art, at an affordable price.

3 words to define your universe :

Warm, unconventional, daring

An inspiring brand?

The brand Counter-space in Los Angeles : a selection of sought, refined objects and furniture.

What is your greatest pride?
Wilo & Grove of course! This is our baby, born more than two years ago now. We wanted to create a gallery where our customers would feel comfortable and inspired. We realized that many people around us had a real sensitivity for art and beautiful things but that they did not dare to push the door of a gallery, intimidated and not knowing where to start! The idea was therefore to desecrate the universe of the art gallery, by proposing a selection chosen with care, but diversified and affordable. And this in an inhabited, warm and transparent universe in terms of price.

Your next big challenge in 2020?

After two incredible first years, with a start that really exceeded all our wildest expectations, our challenge is now to share our passion for art and our artists with the greatest number. We also love to advise and support professionals, hotels, restaurants and architects, and wish to devote more time to this part of our activity. To make it possible, we will soon have to enlarge our team, which will also be a major challenge!

How do you recharge your batteries ?

Break the routine of the week. We put in place our "Tuesdays of freedom", about a year after the creation of the brand to get out of the hectic pace of entrepreneurial everyday life, which can quickly become a crazy race! On Tuesday morning, everyone is free to have a moment for themselves - which sometimes turns into a home office, but working in pajamas is not the same! We meet at the end of the morning for our weekly Yoga Bikram session and a good breakfast follows, where we debrief about the projects in progress.

It’s half a day that changes everything! The two of us also like to leave Paris often on weekends for a change of air.

Your favorite Art?

Modern and post-war trends are so rich and varied that the 20th century remains our favorite period. In terms of technique, we are both very sensitive to works on paper that establish a special, very intimate relationship between the observer and the artist.

Your artistic crush in 2019?

We have more than forty, the number of artists currently represented by the gallery! In fact, we all choose them because we had a crush: this is our first selection criterion. If we dream of hanging one of their artworks in our interiors, we offer them a partnership.

Who do you dream of collaborating with?

We don't know it yet and that's the beauty of our work: we are constantly looking for new talents for the gallery, without preconceived ideas and ready to be surprised.

Favorite restaurant?

Sobane - A Korean restaurant facing our Loft rue de la Tour d´Auvergne! It's delicious!

A museum / exhibition to recommend?

If you can find slots, we recommend the Leonardo da Vinci expo at the Louvre! It is the first and last time that so many masterpieces of the artist have been brought together and that an exhibition is devoted to his entire career and his approach. Fascinating, overwhelming and very enlightening about the reasons for his position as an absolute master in the history of art.

Next trip ?
Morocco with friends for Olivia and a surprise trip organized for her husband around her birthday for Fanny.

Readings to advise?

It all depends on the occasion and the mood! A very beautiful but very hard book, recommended by our colleague Estelle who has the opportunity to read a lot as a member of the jury for a literary grand prize: “Born of no woman” by Franck Bouysse. A slap.

Your favorite quote ?

"When we want we can" (Fanny) and "happiness is in contrasts" (Olivia)

Any advice for someone who wants to live from their passion?

Trust yourself, do it with the support of your loved ones, plan a viable and concrete attack plan, and put your heart into it!

Favorite IG account?

Difficult to choose only one, because it is also the variety that makes IG interesting! But La Minute culture is a must for those who do not yet know. A really well done and funny account to learn more about the history of Art.

What are your sources of inspiration?

After having worked a dozen of years in the impressionist & modern department of Christie's in Paris, we are obviously strongly influenced and inspired by the very numerous artistic and aesthetic currents which were born in the20th century: cubism, fauvism, futurism, surrealism, abstract expressionism, and so many others! So many influences that are found today in our selection of works.

We also have a crazy love for Design and the idea that we can mix a variety of styles in an interior!

Biggest dream ?

A world tour (Olivia). Always enjoy, discover, learn, share and start again! (Fanny)
